HIIT-ing the ground running

BREAKFAST

This morning seemed to be déjà vu. Like yesterday, it was very difficult for me to get out of bed and like yesterday my alarm went off at 5am and I didn't get out of bed until a quarter to six. I really hate it when I let myself drag along like this. Time, as it is, is very limited for me, hence me working out at the butt crack of dawn, so when I let 45 minutes go by doing nothing but drifting in and out of a groggy sleep it really messes up my morning routine. I only managed to do a 30 minute HIIT session on the treadmill and no weights :( On the upside I still felt like the workout did it's job. I did six interval of 1 and 3. One minute at 9.5 mph and three at 4 mph. By the time interval six came along I felt like I was about to pass out but I stuck it through. I peaked today at 178 bpm.

For breakfast I'm sure you know what I had... If you said artichoke and turkey sandwich then you're RIGHT! DING DING! I loved it so much yesterday so it was an obvious choice for today's refueling. De-lic-i-o-so!

To finish breakfast off I had a blueberry Chobani yogurt with goji berries and ground flax. The goji berries really added a good texture and flavor to the mix.

Goji Berries

Goji berries, aka Lycium barbarum and wolfberry, is are berries from shrubs that are usually found in the the regions of China and the Himalayas and are often sold dried. Goji berries have been used for thousands of years by Chinese herbalists to protect the liver, improve cirulation, improve immune system, and improve eyesight. These little berries also are rich in antioxidants such as beta-carotene and zeaxanthin not to mention that they're tasty and can be added to a variety of foods like yogurt, salads, cereal, I've even had them in a few stir fry dishes that Newton's mom prepared.
